On August 4, 2026, American Public University System combined with Rasmussen University and Hondros College of Nursing to form a single higher education institution. American Public University System (the System) now includes American Public University, American Military University, Rasmussen University, and Hondros College of Nursing. The System is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Public Education, Inc. (APEI). We are continuing to update our website to reflect our new structure.

Student Handbook of American Military University

Welcome to American Military University (AMU)! The Student Handbook is the official repository of all AMU policies and should be used as a student's main resource for admission policies, registration policies, extension and course grading policies, and all other policies that may impact students.

The Scope of the Student Handbook

AMU policies and procedures apply to all students attending American Public University (APU) and American Military University (AMU).

Changes to the Student Handbook

AMU reserves the right to change policies, procedures, and programs as necessary. Policy and procedural changes will be posted directly to the Student Handbook and may also be posted inside a student's campus and in student and department newsletters. Questions, suggestions, corrections, or additions regarding the information in this handbook should be sent to studentservices@apus.edu, along with the requester's full name and student ID where applicable.
