This course addresses the role that information technology plays in the health delivery systems in the United States. Students will evaluate how the current and future trends in health information technology impact the quality, safety, and finances of the health care delivery system. The course provides students with a history of the Health Information Technology (HIT) evolution, an overview of current trends and challenges, the impact of HIT on the patient centered delivery system and the continuum of care, as well as the future trajectory of HIT. The following is required for admission into this program. All documentation must be provided prior to course registration:

  • Acceptance: Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better on a 4.0 scale or a conferred Master’s Degree in another discipline.
  • All AMU master's degree/graduate certificate programs require a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA®).
  • Please read all graduate admission requirements before applying to this program and be prepared to submit the required documentation.
