About This Program
The K-12 reading and differentiated learning graduate certificate from American Military University (AMU) allows practicing teachers to acquire more focused knowledge in literacy instruction and personalized learning.
AMU’s online certificate program in K-12 reading and differentiated learning is designed to:
- Help you better meet the needs of diverse learners
- Support implementation of personalized learning through individualization and differentiation
- Introduce diagnostic approaches for struggling K-12 readers
Program activities include the creation of unique instructional and assessment exercises, technology-based assignments, differentiated lesson plans and activities. case studies, and problem-based scenarios.
This graduate certificate program does not lead to state certification or licensure, nor can it be used to maintain state licensure or certification.
NOTE: This program is primarily suited to those who have a master’s degree. The program has specific admission requirements.

Admission Requirements
All AMU master's degree and graduate programs require a bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
In addition, the following is required for admission into this program. All documentation must be provided prior to course registration:
- Official bachelor’s transcript showing conferral of degree with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, or a master’s transcript showing conferral of degree
- Graduate writing sample
- Signed statement of understanding (SOU)

- A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 is required for admission into this program.
- You are required to take EDUC590 as the first course in this degree program, but other courses may be taken in conjunction with EDUC590.

Includes alumni who graduated with an associate, bachelor's, or master's degree from APUS. Student loan debt is defined as student loans and private education loans used for tuition, fees, living expenses, and book costs associated with courses taken at APUS. Many APUS students receive military tuition assistance and veterans education benefits, which are not student loan debt.

*Cost Per Credit Hour
The Preferred Military Rate is $250 per credit hour for undergraduate and master's-level courses. This rate is available to all U.S. active-duty servicemembers, National Guard members, Reservists, and military families, including parents, spouses, legal partners, siblings, and dependents.
